2013 Fall Sales List

2013 marks our 33rd year breeding "horses to match our mountains."  We've always emphasized naturalness of gait, sweet disposition, substantial bone, athletic ability and beauty.  Central to our breeding program for the last decade was the late Pride Piper, the last standing son of Pride of Midnight H.F., known for his barefoot running walk, light-shod show record (including a reserve championship at the Celebration), and striking appearance.  His son Piper's Pride of Absaroka, a powerful, athletic chestnut like his sire, is now producing tall, athletic colts.  (With Pride, at age three, Dan rounded up our cattle in the hills alone, then went the next day to a show where he took five ribbons!)  Absaroka Silver Dollar is ultra-gentle, grey, and powerful.  We’ve been particularly pleased with Dollar foals from Piper mares.  Lastly, we’ve added Bubba the Gaited Jack to answer the growing demand for gaited mules.  We’ve been extremely pleased with his first two foal crops and are enjoying this new endeavor of producing “long-ears” with their mothers’ head-nodding running walks.

Please note:

·         All horses are registered and blood-typed.

·         All prices subject to change (particularly as horses progress in training).

·         For horses currently in training, “started” refers to approximately thirty days training including ground work and 10-15 rides.  “Well-started” indicates considerable riding on the ranch outside of the arena.  A performance checklist is kept showing the accomplishment of each horse and is updated after each session.

Pride’s Absaroka Pearl by Piper’s Pride of Absaroka out of a Dollar mare named Pearl is a statuesque five-year-old mare standing 15.3, who will probably top out at sixteen hands.  She has beautiful, high-withered conformation and incredible gaits.  She does have a scar on her right front pastern that grows less noticeable with time and does not hamper her in any way.  According to Jennifer, she’d be the choice if you had 50 miles to go!  $4900.
