USS Eclipse NCC-800121 MISSION STATEMENT
Eclipse's mission is deep space scientific exploration.
ATTENTION ECLIPSE CREW MEMBERS:
Please submit your written proposals for our MISSION STATEMENT and BRIDGE PLAQUE to Captain Ryan-Marshall. All submissions received by October 1, 2008 will be sent to the crew and voted upon for selection.
CURRENT MISSION:
While enroute to Starbase 5, Eclipse picked up a distress signal, and then followed it to an ice moon. A frozen waterworld, the moon is covered by a sea of floating ice. An away team has taken a shuttle down to the moon to locate the source of the distress signal. The shuttle, named Ice Runner, has been specially outfitted for submersion and is capable of withstanding temperatures down to absolute zero, -273 C, the temperture of outer space.
It has been three days since the away team submerged. Minerals frozen in the ice and suspended in the frigid sea has made communication with the away team impossible. Science probes have been outfitted to act as surface to ship communication relays and deployed on the surface of the floating ice above the last known vicinity of the away team.
Meanwhile, under the ice the away team discovered the ruins of a past civilization. While exploring the ruins, a hatch was found; scans indicated a breatheable oxygen environment behind it. Upon passing through the hatch the away team found themselves in a vast underground cavern containing a very large city. Although the architecture appears to be Earth, circa Roman empire era, the composition and materials of the buildings indicate the city was recently constructed. The city is deserted.
PREVIOUS MISSION:
Our last completed mission involved a First Contact with a sentient being comprised of energy. They had seeded the Rolor Nebula with their eggs hundreds of years earlier, returning recently for the hatching out.
