Jumping & Dressage
Growing up I learned to ride "seat of the pants" style in the hills and mountains of my native Montana.
I started the ongoing process of upgrading my skills and refining my style when I attended William Woods College and graduated with a B.S. in Equestrian Science.
Further thirst for knowledge led to jobs at the dressage show barn of Gunnar Ostergaard and Ellin Dixon Miller in Pennsylvania and the dressage and event barn of Kim and Melissa Beardsley in Washington.
Next I leased my own barn in Washington where I established an adult amateur hunter/jumper barn. My students and I showed regularly and successfully on the "A" hunter/jumper circuit in Washington, with forays to dressage shows and events.
Since returning to Montana in the early 1990's I have taught a wide variety of students, most of who compete at Events.
I started a young thoroughbred, Foxed Again and we were undefeated in four Area IX events before I sold "Foxie" to Denny Emerson who developed him into an Advanced event horse.
My homebred mare, Montana Charm, was the high percentage dressage horse at the 2000 Cottonwood Dressage Show. I continue to develop young horses, raise Swedish warmblood foals, and teach extensively.
I am currently participating in the United States Eventing Association Instructor Certification Program and recently attended their first workshop in Virginia.
